True Treasure

I am neither CEO nor the governor of any state
Not even the owner of a farm house or estate
I live in libraries and parks or at the banks of brooks
My only assets are few nice friends and plenty of great books

My daily food is a piece of bread
A day without reading, I think I am dead
My reading includes philosophy, art and literature
A real feast for my mind, spirit soars with rapture

With Socrates or Russell, I can have a conversation
To talk to Tolstoy or Dostoyevsky, no need of invitation
Any day or time, for me, they all come in queue
Many evenings we celebrate an intellectual barbeque

Reading great books is a spiritual experience
Learning lessons from the history is my science
With money, success I never measure
For me, knowledge is the true treasure
